REINFORCED PLASTICS FOR THE DREDGING INDUSTRY
The use of reinforced plastics in the construction of dredging equipment is discussed. Advantages of using reinforced plastics for dredging purposes are given, among them light weight, high abrasion resistance, transport savings, maintenance, and properties of the plastics, such as flexibility and shock-resistance. Descriptions of the plastic ball joint and floating discharge lines are also given. The production process, with raw materials used in the construction, the chemistry of the process, and the method of production is discussed. The developement of the process, as well as the quality control system that was established, are both briefly discussed.
