TRAFFIC SYSTEMS AND FACILITIES FOR THE HANDICAPPED
Traffic systems for the handicapped in Japan have improved recently. However, when each policy on traffic systems for the handicapped is examined, it is clear that these facilities have no regard for the users themselves. Therefore, even though there are many facilities, they are not put to good use. In this discussion, it is pointed out that there are all sorts of misunderstandings and biased views caused by lack of full communication between healthy people and the handicapped. There are also evils caused by overprotective attitude towards the handicapped. The fundamental problems of traffic systems for the handicapped can only be solved when the viewpoints of the handicapped are understood. (TRRL)
