DESIGN AND OPERATION OF LARGE HIGH-PRESSURE FEEDHEATERS

The growing unit output of turbosets demands equipment of entirely new dimensions. This is particularly true of high-pressure feedwater heaters. Experience gained with welded steel tubes is reported. The results of stress analysis on tube plates and the development of a new cast steel alloy for the water chambers permits extrapolation for the large dimensions expected in the future.
