Natural Hazards Reconnaissance Facility

This chapter explores examples of the remote sensing equipment that has been made available by the NSF-funded Natural Hazards Reconnaissance Facility (NHERI) at the University of Washington to practitioners and researchers for the monitoring of embankments, dams, and slopes. The Post-Disaster Rapid Response Research Experimental Facility (RAPID) at the University of Washington provides the infrastructure and services to enable the next generation of natural disaster rapid response research. RAPID's support of the collection of perishable field data from natural hazard events to benefit a wide range of scientific research is examined, as well as the equipment, software, and support services it provides to investigators to collect, process, and analyze perishable data from natural hazard events. A table listing available equipment at RAPID Headquarters is included.
