OCEANS OF THE WORLD: THE LAST FRONTIER; AN ANNOTATED INTRODUCTORY BIBLIOGRAPHY ON THE LAW OF THE SEA

This bibliography on the law of the sea was prepared for the 52nd School of International Relations, March 14, 1974, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sea Grant Program, and the United Nations Association of Greater Boston. As a starting point for readings in the complex and sophisticated subject of law of the sea, the bibliography contains sections on the regions of the ocean (open sea, sea floor, and coastal zones), maritime law pertaining to fisheries, marine mammals, minerals, and petroleum, legal aspects of marine pollution and transportation, and regional interests and research concerns as affected by law of the sea. One section lists general works ranging from introductory to more advanced texts on maritime law. Further reading on the subject is provided for by annotated entries on periodicals and comprehensive bibliographies. Although legal documents are not included, a section on institutions and agencies lists some of the governmental bodies actively concerned with law of the sea.
