JUICE BRAKES
A hydraulic brake booster unit--Hydro-Boost--uses hydraulic pressure from the power steering system, to help the motorist apply the brakes. Hydro-Boost Units are made by Bendix and used by GM and Ford. This article describes the advantages of the Hydro-Boost over conventional vacuum boosters, the unit components and its operating principles. It also details the diagnosis and repair of a typical Hydro-Boost unit in simple language. Specific step-by-step disassembly and assembly instructions are given as captions for the fourteen photos accompanying the text.
