The BRRC analyzes the performance and durability of rubber roadway cushions in Brussels

OCW analyseert de prestaties en duurzaamheid van rubberen rijbaankussens in Brussel

In 2016, Brussels Mobility (via the Road Management and Maintenance Directorate) wanted to test various types of rubber roadway cushions, for which no opening in the pavement has to be made. To assess these facilities, in particular their sustainability and performance, Brussels Mobility called on the BRRC. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science monitored the process, ranging from the choice of location, the choice of the cushions to the placement of the cushions. Six lane cushions were placed on the parallel road of the Avenue Louise. To carry out the assessments, the Center has conducted on-site measurements (analysis of traffic, noise and vibrations) and observations (changes in the condition of the cushions and pavements) in the last three years.
