What Influences Users to Employ Ride-Hailing Integrated Public Transit
The relationship between ride-hailing and public transit has received a lot of attention. In this paper, the authors observe the integrated multi-mode mobility patterns. In the 40% of integrated trips, they find that 17% are ride-hailing integrated with public transit(RIPT). And, residents prefer to RIPT to solve last-mile problems. Next, the authors find that RIPTs are mainly concentrated in areas with inadequate public transportation. By comparing the characteristics of trips using only ride-hailing with using RIPT, the authors find that there is a large difference in trip duration and distance. Finally, they find that the factors that encourage people to choose RIPTs are mainly related to current trip characteristics and the availability of public transit. This study can enrich the knowledge of the relationship between ride-hailing and public transit in mega-cities and can also provide assistance in the design of MaaS.
