Traffic Safety Facts 2018 Data: Summary of Motor Vehicle Crashes
In 2018 there were an estimated 6,734,000 police-reported traffic crashes in which 36,560 people were killed and an estimated 2,710,000 people were injured. In 2018 there were 10,511 people killed in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes, an average of one alcohol-impaired-driving fatality every 50 minutes.
