Research and Simulation of Active Air Suspension of Bus Based on Fuzzy PID Control

The suspension system is an important component of traveling system in bus. Its performance directly impacts on riding comfort and handling stability of vehicle. A active air suspension of parallel connection with cylinder as actuator is studied. Taking the bus named 6,890 with a quarter-car model with two degrees of freedom active suspension as the research object, establish passive suspension, and active air suspension dynamic models. The simulation curves of vehicle body vertical acceleration, suspension working space and dynamic tire displacement are output by using MATLAB/Simulink simulation to evaluate suspension performance. The simulation analysis is carried out on the typical road of level A and B with different speeds, comparing the improvement degree of each evaluation parameter. The simulation results show that the active air suspension with parallel controller based on Fuzzy PID control strategy has been greatly improved in several evaluation indexes.
