The sources of barriers to airport development: A dynamic capabilities perspective
This study explores the barriers to the process of shaping dynamic capabilities in terms of specific competencies which enable the modification of the resource-base and lead to company development. The authors examine thirteen regional airports in Poland that carried passenger traffic in 2012–2015. The results of analysis suggest that airports are dynamic-capability-shaping oriented. Nevertheless, under the same market conditions and under the same legal system the activities performed in shaping dynamic capabilities differ, which suggests their heterogeneity. The dominant logic and observed barriers to the process of shaping dynamic capabilities that arise in financial, organizational and human areas inhibit the long-term development of airports.
