Tools for Assessing the Cybersecurity of Tunnel Control Centers
Digitalization has already reached the transport sector. This is particularly true for tunnel control centers, which centrally monitor and control tunnels—with the support of information technology (IT) systems—to guarantee safe and secure operation. Along with this technological progress, however, the danger of cyberattacks is growing. This article discusses a guide, Cyber Security of Tunnel Control Centers: Guide to Improving IT Security, and three software action tools funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, to make it easier for tunnel control center operators to evaluate and improve their IT security. The action tools are: a checklist for upper management, evaluation software and guide for middle management, and risk management software for IT managers.
