Analysis of the Factors for Success of Innovative Mobility Concepts
The aim of this conference contribution is to gain an overview of factors for success of innovative mobility concepts, in particular of Demand-Responsive Transport Systems. For this purpose, a literature review is carried out and evaluated. The results of this analysis will serve the development of successful business models for public and private providers of future mobility. In the future, mobility will be increasingly intelligent, integrated, flexible and demand-oriented. The goal is a highly available local public transport system for urban and rural areas that includes innovative service concepts, is environmentally friendly and, thanks to flexible pricing models, is fair and cost-effective for users. Progressive digitalisation enables these new degrees of freedom for the operation of flexible operating concepts. Public transport systems will be able to bundle the temporally and spatially corresponding travel desires of different passengers to create a dynamic route. These mobility concepts, which are also known as Demand-Responsive Transport (DRT) due to their demand-driven service concept, are currently being tested in pilot operations in various large, medium-sized and small cities worldwide. These transport systems are based on different business models that have different conditions. In order to develop a successful business model, it is necessary to study the conditions of successful as well as miscarried attempts. In this conference contribution the authors analyse different scientific studies that have dealt with the factors for success of innovative mobility concepts, in particular of Demand-Responsive Transport Systems. One of the factors for success that is carried out is the adaptation of the degree of flexibility to the requirements of the users – in particular avoidance of oversupply.
