Development of a New Attenuation Model for West Tennessee

Almost all ground motion models developed for Central United States exclude the Gulf Coast region. West Tennessee falls under the Gulf Coast region. Therefore, hazard maps developed for West Tennessee do not have an appropriate representation of the West Tennessee Seismic hazard. This research will develop a new attenuation model that will be appropriate for West Tennessee, which is the high seismic part of the state. This research will have a significant impact on hazard maps that will be developed for West Tennessee by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the code development agencies.
