AN ASSESSMENT OF THE CLEGG IMPACT SOIL TESTER
The Clegg impact soil tester is a simple device based on the deceleration of a falling weight as it strikes the ground. The instrument is portable and allows a rapid non destructive test to be performed at low cost. This report summarises the investigational work that has been carried out on the impact tester with particular emphasis to observations made by the Main Roads Department of WA (A). (TRRL)
