Data and Modeling Support of Off-Line and Real-Time Decisions Associated with Integrated Corridor Management

A decisions support systems (DSS) is considered an important component of integrated corridor management (ICM). A DSS provides the necessary support for real-time operations as well as planning for operations of the transportation systems. Previous national ICM efforts have utilized offline and online decision support modules based on data from multiple sources and modeling tools. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) have started considering, planning, and/or initiating efforts for the development and implementation of such tools. However, there are many issues and considerations when implementing model-based DSS to support ICM deployment in Florida. The goal of this research was to assess the applicability, feasibility, and effectiveness of data, analysis, modeling, and simulation approaches to support the decision-making process associated with offline and real-time operations of ICM. This project provides findings that support the maximization of ICM benefits by identifying approaches to the effective use of decision support tools for real-time and offline applications.
