Comments are made on the taxes paid by the trucking industry, and the trucking industry structure, growth and development are examined. The regulated modes are compared with reference to operating revenues, the output, i.e., tonnage or ton-miles, and the commodity hauled. Financial statistics and operating statistics are examined. The importance of fuel conservation is emphasized and the fuel savings credited to the trucking industry are noted.
