CYCLING: A CONSULTATION PAPER

This consultation paper describes the actions being taken now by the government to meet the needs of cyclists, considers the possibilities for further action and asks people for their views. Three areas are considered: (1) provision of facilities for cyclists (road design, road surfaces, traffic signs and signals, measures to promote leisure cycling); (2) improvement in safety (education and training, conspicuity of cyclists, publicity and the highway code, bicycle design); (3) promotion of legislation to help cyclists and to protect their interests.
