BUS TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM IN STOCKHOLM (BTL). EVALUATION OF A TEST

The aim of this computer-controlled bus-traffic control system was to obtain more regular traffic, better and more easily available information on how the traffic is running and how the buses are loaded. It should also give the bus drivers a better working environment as the traffic would be more regular and the distribution of passengers more even. A description of the system and equipment, which were tested by an extensive delivery control, is given. The evaluation comprises the measurable effects of the btl system such as timetable adherence and regularity as well as the staff's view and other immeasurable effects. Finally, a calculation of profitability is presented. A translation into Swedish is available. (TRRL)
