METHODS FOR EVALUATING THE FIT, COMFORT, EASE OF USE AND CONTROLLABILITY OF BICYCLES

This report proposes a program of fitting trials, experimental riding trials, user trials and technical tests,in order to provide bicycle users and buyers with the following information; (1) how to choose a bicycle to fit the person who will use it now and for at least the next 2-3 years; (2) what styles of bicycle are available and how the style affects various types of performance and accident rates; (3) bicycle features to look for and how much they will cost; (4) how well the machine will stand up to use, abuse and weather; (5) the availability and cheapness of spares; and (6) given a set of needs which models should be acquired and which avoided.
