PSYCHOLOGICAL STUDY WITH THE DRIVING PERFORMANCE MEASURING VEHICLE

PSYCHOLOGISCHE ERPROBUNGSSTUDIE MIT DEM FAHRLEISTUNGSMESSFAHRZEUG

The Federal Institute for Road Research in Germany has developed a driving performance measuring vehicle for studying the loading and stressing of drivers. The paper reports on the first trial study with the vehicle in real traffic. The object of the study was to arrive at a model of the factors which condition driver behaviour. The model distinguishes between situational and non-situational components which may be personal or traffic related. The results of the study illustrate the dominance of situational effects in traffic in town centres. (TRRL)
