THREE-DIMENSIONAL ELASTIC ANALYSIS OF A STEEL AND CONCRETE SANDWICH PLATE

A thick plate theory which is based upon Galerkin-Vector and Boussinesq's function in the three dimensional elasticity was applied to analyze simply supported laminated plates. Such a structure can be found as a precast slab for a bridge deck supported by steel girders. A numerical investigation was carried out for revealing the characteristics of normal and shearing stresses acting on the interfaces of steel and concrete sandwich square plates subjected to a partially distributed normal load on the top surface. A good agreement between theoretical results and experimental ones for such interfacial stress distributions was found for a model of the steel and concrete sandwich square plate. The paper presents a method of three-dimensional stress analysis for a steel and concrete simply-supported plate to show axle load stress characteristics. (TRRL)
