ANALYSIS AND EXPERIMENTS ON DISTORTION OF THIN-WALLED HORIZONTALLY CURVED BOX GIRDER BRIDGES

This paper deals with the distortion of the horizontally curved box girder bridges. The fundamental differential equations for the distortion are derived by virtue of the energy method. These equations are rearranged by the definition analogous to the torsional warping theory for the sake of convenience. The numerical solutions are obtained by means of the transfer matrix method. The theoretical results are checked and compared with the experimental ones. (Author/TRRL)
