ELECTRIFICATION OF THE RAILROAD LINE SALZBERGEN-EMDEN-NORDDEICH (MOLE) IN WEST GERMANY
ELEKTRIFIZIERUNG DER STRECKE SALZBERGEN--EMDEN--NORDDEICH (MOLE)
The electrification of the line Salzbergen -- Emden -- Norddeich (Mole) is of importance for the connection of the harbor Emden with the electrified rail network of the Ruhr area. A modification of the overhead line had to be carried out due to climatic conditions in this coastal region. For the bascule bridges, special designs of the overhead line had to be made. The design of the substations and the railroad transmission line are outlined. The importance of environmental aspects in connection with the electrification work is pointed out.
