SCOPE OF GSA ACQUISITION AND RELOCATION PROGRAM
Although the General Services Administration (GSA) has not known of any enequities in the relocation activities associated with it's limited federal programs, GSA does feel there is need for a more uniform administration of the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Property Acquisition Act of 1970. A greater degree of uniformity could be achieved with a single set of regulations coupled with a central organization to direct the oversee governmentwide relocation procedures. The overview organization should have the authority to approve regulations issued by agencies as well as impose sanctions against deviations that are not supported by program needs. Inequities relating to last-resort housing (Section 206) are noted. Amendments relating to coverage of all persons displaced by federal or federally assisted projets are also needed.
