Mainstreaming Transportation Systems Management and Operations
Transportation systems management and operations (TSMO) is defined as a set of integrated strategies that enable transportation agencies to better manage and operate existing roadway capacity to improve the reliability and efficiency of the system and the mobility of system users. This article provides an examination of how state departments of transportation are building and implementing effective TSMO programs. It details elements of success and provides examples that give a snapshot of 21st-century operations programs using SHRP2 reliability solutions and other approaches.
