THE AGED IN A SOCIETY ON WHEELS - TOWARD A TRAFFIC SCIENCE FOR THE AGED
In 1975 the Japanese population showed an ageing rate (over 65 yrs) of 7.9%. This article examines the traffic related problems of the elderly in terms of their physical, psychologic and social characteristics, in an attempt to develop a form of traffic science for the aged. Accidents according to age group (from 15 to over 70) for all road users, and car accidents involving aged drivers, are analysed in tabular form. (TRRL)
