OFF-ROAD VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY -- A RETROSPECTIVE VIEW
Off-road vehicles, in the frame of this study, include agricultural, construction, forestry, industrial, and mining vehicles. Military vehicles are also included in this class because military tactics requires that vehicles not be limited to road networks; and there are many interchanges in technology between commercial and military vehicles. Six subjects that appear to describe progress in off-road technology are examined; vehicle form, power trains, mobility, implement/tool muscle, working tools, and man-machine relationships.
