THE COMPUTER PROGRAM BRUIT - A TOOL FOR EVALUATING AND FORECASTING ROAD TRAFFIC NOISE

LE PROGRAMME DE CALCUL AUTOMATIQUE BRUIT - UN OUTIL D'EVALUATION ET DE PREVISION DU BRUIT DU TRAFIC ROUTIER

The automatic computer program bruit is an operational tool for evaluating and forecasting the level of noise due to road traffic. It permits the following operations: (1) to obtain data on acoustic conditions at an urban site crossed by roads with a high level of noise; (2) to develop suitable noise protection measures; (3) to study the alignment of new roads as a function of noise; (4) to analyze plans for optimizing the exposure of buildings planned for the vicinity of existing or future roads. This article outlines calculation principles, fields of use for the preparation of highway plans, accuracy of results, and mode of use. (TRRL)
