INFORMATIVE VISUAL SIGNS FOR VEHICLES WITH DRIVERS HAVING LIMITED DRIVING APTITUDE

INFORMATIVE OPTISCHE SIGNALWIRKUNG AN KRAFTFAHRZEUGEN MIT BEGRENZT FAHRTAUGLICHEN FAHRZEUGFUEHRERN

The report introduces ideas by which, with better mutual understanding, accommodation and respect can be achieved. The group surveyed included qualified or learner drivers who on account of congenital or developed abnormalities are only partially fit for driving, and older active drivers. It is proposed that a visual marking with the aim of producing an optical code should be introduced, e.g. Side or rear stripes, roof carrier with corresponding signs or plates. By means of publicity at the time of introduction, all drivers, after a period of training, would be able to recognise these drivers with reduced driving aptitude and react just as carefully as they would away from traffic.
