EXPERIENCE WITH AN ADH-METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF BLOODALCOHOL CONCENTRATION USING THE LKB-2086 REACTION RATE ANALYZER

A description is given of a semi-automatic, semi-kinetic method for the determination of blood alcohol concentration by the adh method using the lkb-2086 reaction rate analyser. Minor changes to the thermostat-tube of the equipment (cover plate to prevent the evaporation and loss of the sample) and to the sampling procedure (dilution of the adh mixture) were undertaken. The method provided good correlation values with the manual adh method (end point determination) and with the automatic gas chromatography (correlation coefficient 0.9639 and 0.9863 respectively p<0.001), precision and accuracy of the determination corresponding with the general requirements for the investigation of forensic materials. By using this analytical system one person can undertake about 300 blood sampling tests per working day. (TRRL)
