THE RHINE-SPELLE-FREREN EXPERIMENTAL LINE FOR ESTABLISHING THE POWER CAPACITY OF THE WHEEL/RAIL TECHNIQUE

RHEINE-SPELLE-FREREN VERSUCHSSTRECKE ZUR ERFORSCHUNG DES LEISTUNGSVERMOEGENS DER RAD/SCHIENE-TECHNIK

This straight line, 23 km in length, can be covered in both directions at speeds of up to 350 km/h. The main objectives are: experimentation with new mechanical and electrical components in vehicles, study of running dynamics and adhesion values, study of dynamic vehicle/track interaction, study of dynamic behaviour in bridges, experimentation with crossing points at high speeds, the development of new energy transmission systems for speeds of over 250 km/h, experimentation with new aspects of operating techniques (route safety, information transmission and monitoring the position of trains and vehicles).
