A study was undertaken to establish guidelines for use of modifiers in recycling pavement materials for use by the field engineer. Several modifiers were subjected to physical laboratory tests both alone and in blends with aged asphalts. The results indicated that an aged asphalt could be reconstituted but would not necessarily meet all specifications for a virgin asphalt of the same grade. Indications for modifiers blended with asphalts from Woodburn, Oregon; Rye Grass, Washington; and Abilene, Texas, are that the recycled binders should perform statisfactorily. (Author)
