THE BENEFITS OF MINIBUSES: A COMMENT
The paper comments on an earlier article by Walters, September 1979, which considered the benefits of minibuses, and which this article considers to have omitted some social and financial costs. Such omissions involve hours of operation, operational life, depreciation and, changes in frequency and profitability of conventional services. Quoted low cost and flexibility advantages of minibuses operated by small businesses are a function of the individual company and not only of vehicle size as such. A rejoinder to these criticisms of the original paper by Walters is added. (TRRL)
