TRANSPORT MOBILITY IN INTERUBRAN AREAS: A CASE STUDY APPROACH IN SOUTH OXFORDSHIRE

Transport mobility is examined within the context of one particular interurban area which itself is typical of many "rural" areas in England and Wales. Part of the analysis is concerned with an estimation of consumer preferences for mode and policy alternatives and the methodologies used are outlined. This type of case study approach is then linked to the demands of policy makers and a total-welfare approach is suggested for the provision of "rural" services, including transport. Finally, certain priorities for further research are noted and conclusions are drawn about the usefulness of the case study approach. (Author)
