A Greek bulk carrier which can serve as a floating storage silo is operating as a floating bulk cargo terminal utilizing Swedish handling equipment. Using the Archimedes screw principle, cement and other bulk cargoes can be loaded from the terminal at a full capacity of 800 t per hour to a ship or barge, or alternatively, transferred from one ship directly to another ship or barges, thus reducing vessel turnaround times. The floating terminal is based on the bulk carrier named "Halkis Express".
