INLAND PORTS PROVING THEIR WORTH
The author emphasizes that the demand for more optimal methods of transporting seaborne cargo has resulted in inland waterway routes becoming an increasingly more attractive alternative and in order to illustrate the changing role of the inland port, examines three European ports situated at the center of industrial hinterlands, including Liege, Belgium, Lyon, France and Duisburg, the Federal Republic of Germany.
