Reebie Associates, Greenwich, Conn., has available the computerized Reebie Barge Cost Analysis Model (BCAM), which Reebie says offers those concerned with waterway freight movement an easy-to-use but thorough method of estimating the many cost elements involved. "BCAM is designed to respond to specific moves of the user's interest, in terms of origin, destination, equipment type, waterway routing, and commodity type," Reebie said. "The model has already been successfully used in private consulting assignments, and for federal planning agencies. It has demonstrated the attractiveness of waterway usage in meeting growing transportation demands. Its public availability should prove particularly useful to shippers in rate negotiations, routing selection, equipment acquisition decisions, and in alternative modal selection. Carriers will find it valuable in assessing present and potential traffic, in evaluating cost inflation impacts and in equipment acquisition decisions."
