COAL-FIRED PANAMAX BULK CARRIER
With increasing world interest in Panamax sized bulk carriers and the trend towards coal-fired propulsion as exemplified by recent orders on Australian account, the Ship and Marine Technology requirements Board (SMTRB) has released an up-dated Y-ARD report on the viability of such ship types. This article outlines the main conclusions of the Report in relation to a conceptual coal-fired Panamax bulk carrier.
