"QUIET LORRY" IS READY FOR MASS PRODUCTION
"LAERMARMER LKW" IST SERIENREIF
The research on the "quiet lorry" has been completed and the 7.5 ton lorry developed is ready to go into production. The measures adopted, including all encapsulation and turbo-charging, effected a considerable reduction in noise level by 13 db(a) down to 77 db(a); this was at the expense of a gain in weight of 120 kg. This will be able to be balanced out by a saving in fuel of 6-8 percent. There is also an 8.5 percent increase in price. (TRRL)
