THE PRACTICAL DRIVING TEST AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR DIAGNOSING DRIVING APTITUDE - PRELIMINARY CONSIDERATIONS

DIE PRAKTISCHE FAHRPROBE ALS DIAGNOSTISCHES INSTRUMENT ZUR BEURTEILUNG DER FUEHRERTAUGLICHKEIT - PRAELIMINAERE BETRACHTUNGEN

In Switzerland an evaluation is made at regular intervals (1-2 years) of the driving aptitude of persons aged over 70, and difficulties occur when there are signs of deterioration due to age. In these cases a driving test is indicated which is undertaken by the person accompanied by a traffic doctor and an official test expert. 82 cases evaluated indicated the significance of the test, particularly with respect to cardiac disorders, disorders of the circulation and hearing defects.
