MOPED COURSES AS TRAFFIC EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS

MOFAKURS ALS PROJEKT DER VERKEHRSERZIEHUNG

This report provides a survey of the 16 current projects carried out in the framework of traffic education moped courses, and considers the experience gained from them. "project moped course" attempts to contribute to a widening of traditional educational forms. In carrying out the moped courses in the form of an educational project the following points are particularly noteworthy: the moped course is more effective if carried out as an intensive course (learning package). The technical preconditions (e.g. preparing mopeds for use) are considerably easier to accomplish - compared to weekly course lessons. For the students the objects of the course are better achieved where, inter alia, the "project moped course" is seen as an introduction to taking the driving license examination. The traffic training area with about 1000 M of road itself offers greater reality than school playgrounds. The necessary co-ordination of theory and practice is more easily achieved. (TRRL)
