TRAFFIC EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS FOR THE RETARDED. OUR PARTNER ON THE ROAD - THE CYCLIST

VERKEHRSERZIEHUNG IN DER SCHULE FUER LERNBEHINDERTE. UNSER PARTNER AUF DER STRASSE - DER RADFAHRER

Through traffic education it is possible to change, in a particular manner, the mainly negatively-experienced actual condition of retarded students, which is determined by particular manifestations of impediments to learning and complex consequential effects on the capacity for learning and accomplishment in various areas such as total cognitive, social and emotional development. The present approved subject matter of traffic education for retarded students includes their correct behaviour as cyclists in simulated traffic situations. The author discusses methodical requirements, study synopses and the progressive planning of the subject, emphasizing his view, that the number of lessons in traffic education for retarded students, as recommended at the conference held by the minister of education, is insufficient.
