STRATEGIES OF USE OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION SURVEYS

STRATEGIES D'UTILISATION DES PHOTOGRAPHIES AERIENNES DANS LES ETUDES ROUTIERES

Aerial photography is an unrivalled tool for road construction studies in particular in developing countries where mapping and methods of soil investigation are insufficient or nonexistent. They are the connecting medium between the project engineer, the geologist, geotechnician and hydrologist. Aerial photography at different scales is used from the site investigation stage to that of detailed preliminary planning. In the latter stage it complements the geotechnical data obtained by photo-interpretation. (TRRL)
