PILE VIBRATION: GEOTECHNICAL INTERPRETATION
LA VIBRATION DES PIEUX: INTERPRETATIONS GEOTECHNIQUES
The non-destructive control of the quality of piles can be carried out by the method of mechanical impedance (vibration). The method, developed at the CEBTP, besides giving data on the quality of concrete and structural homogeneity of the pile, supplies some information on pile-soil interaction. This study shows the possible interpretation of these tests with a view to deducing the quality of the pile anchorage and that of the surrounding soil together with the effect of the bulb of pressure on the axial stiffness of the pile-soil system. Pile heave due to the driving of neighbouring piles can also be studied by this method. (TRRL)
