COAL PORT DEVELOPMENTS TO MEET EXPORT DEMAND

A comprehensive survey of Australia's coal industry detailing port developments planned to meet anticipated growth in export traffic. From a level of 40.4mt in 1979 Australian coal export volumes are expected to exceed 80mt by 1985. As a result plans exist to increase coal terminal capacity from 70mta to 140mta in a similar period. Offering substantial background as to the location and size of Australian coal reserves, production volumes and domestic consumption the following review goes on to examine, with the aid of tables, the evolution of Australian coal exports, future market demand and considers in detail existing facilities and planned developments at New South Wales and Queensland coal loaders.
