RO-RO TRACTOR DESIGN-STILL ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
With ro-ro vessels continuing to extend their influence on long-haul, deep-sea trades, many ports and terminals are looking at ways of obtaining improved performances from tractor/trailer combinations in order to handle this traffic. At the same time, the ability of many present generation ro-ro vessel designs to accept multi-container systems is likely to increase the demand for tractor units with greater load capacities than have been previously experienced. Consequently, several manufacturers have introduced uprated designs to meet this challenge. However, there is still room for further improvement.
