A completely containerised service shipping water to Saudi Arabia and petroleum products back to the Philippines is an integral part of a recent trade deal signed by Saudi Arabian and Philippine interests. Ten chartered containerships and 6000 containers will be required to maintain the service. In a unique trade deal signed recently by the Colmat Import-Export & Services Corporation (CIESCOR), a major Philippine trading company, and a group of Saudi Arabian investors, regular containerised shipments of various types of water are to be made to Saudi Arabia with petroleum products returning to the Philippines. The Arabian-Philippine Water Processing Project (APWPP), which has been approved by the Philippine Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA), calls for the establishment of an integrated water processing complex in the Philippines and the provision of container vessels, containers, handling and trucking equipment.
