BOX MOVES OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA AND EUROPE GROW ON VAST SCALE

Container traffic trends in the Far East and the southern hemisphere contrast vividly with those of Europe and North America, examined in the January issue of Containerisation International. Here, the second part of the magazine's analysis of world container movements during 1970-79 concentrates on five key areas: Japan and the Far East, Australasia, Africa, Latin America and the Mid-East. Together these sectors handled just 12% of the world's container moves in 1970. By 1979 over 37% of the world's port box moves occurred within these areas.
