HOT MIX RECYCLING OF BITUMINOUS PAVEMENT MATERIALS
In recent years, all three main categories of pavement material recycling appear to be gaining in international acceptance as viable alternatives to the traditional resurfacing and reconstruction methods. This paper considers the various options of pavement material removal for reuse together with the questions of haulage economics and storage of reclaimed material. Hot mix recycling can be undertaken by modified batch type and drum mixer plants or by numerous specially manufactured recycling drum mixers. The paper concludes with a look into design and quality control questions and the conflicting opinions regarding the use of recycled mixes. (Author/TRRL)
